Call Me was an experimental webRTC online video chat Facebook application built using vLine’s webRTC API.
The way Call Me operated was fairly simple. When accessing the “Call Me” application on Facebook, the user saw all of their online friends and could either initiate a video chat (if the other party was also on the “Call Me” application page) or send a (Facebook) message inviting them to join Call Me. The way the user initiated a video or audio chat with any of their Facebook friends was extremely easy. A call was initiated through the simple push of a button without the need for installing third party plugins . Everything operated through the native web browser’s capabilities using webRTC technology.
The project was discontinued in 2015 as Facebook changed its Friends API in a way that prevented Call Me users to see and access their online friends.
